Live percussion next to the DJ on a large festival stage with a light show

Technical rider for sound technicians

For the technician · Version 1, updated on 27 October 2026

This rider is meant for the sound technician and the technical crew. It only covers what you need to connect Sam Anderson's live percussion: connections, cables, power, monitoring, space and sound limiters.

I bring all my own instruments, transmitters, receivers and cables. Any questions? Feel free to call or email me beforehand.

Connections and cables

Inputs

Each instrument needs its own input on the DJ mixer or the mixing desk:

  • djembé via the wireless receiver;
  • Roland HandSonic (mono or stereo jack out);
  • Roland SPD-SX Pro (mono or stereo jack out).

Please let me know in advance which inputs are free. For a solo with djembé only, one input is enough.

Wireless

Sennheiser EW-D SK Base for the djembé and a Sennheiser in-ear monitor transmitter. The receivers are open and pointed towards the crowd, within 25 m of the playing area. I do not bring external antennas: please provide them if the distance is greater.

Cables

I bring my own cables from the instruments and receivers to the mixer.

02

Power and space

Power
  • 2 power sockets at the DJ booth for the transmitters and receivers
  • 3 power sockets in the playing area for the digital percussion
Space
  • 0.5 m x 0.5 m free at the DJ booth for the receivers
  • 2 m x 2 m secured playing area for drum pads and stands (1 m x 1 m for djembé only)
  • Dry, covered, on a stable platform and free from the crowd

Monitoring and sound

In-ear mix

Music from the DJ, my djembé and digital pads, and the sound of other artists. A little reverb and delay on the djembé in my in-ears.

DJ monitor

No djembé in the DJ's monitor, unless the DJ asks for it.

Front of house

Minimal reverb and a little EQ on the djembé. Sitting nicely in the mix: not too quiet, not too loud. Please monitor the sound throughout the performance.

Sound limiters

Percussion peaks can trigger a sound limiter and cut the music. Please adjust or switch off the limiter in advance, within the venue's sound regulations.
