Live percussionist for your DJ
Your DJ is already booked. I join in with djembe and digital percussion and handle the coordination myself. Your DJ just keeps one input free.
Your DJ stays your DJ
Most people who book me already have a DJ. That's ideal: the DJ knows your taste in music, I add the live element.
I don't take anything over. Your DJ still chooses the music and runs the night. I play at the moments we agree and follow the DJ during the set. In more than 18 years I've played with dozens of DJs, from wedding DJs to names like Roger Sanchez and Francis Mercier. Playing with a DJ I've never met is part of my everyday work.
Wedding, corporate event or birthday: the approach is the same. Your DJ keeps full control of the music and the evening, and you keep the DJ you chose and trust. Read more about the combination on DJ with live percussion.
How coordination works
-
1
Give me your DJ's name
In your request or after booking. That's all I need.
-
2
I get in touch
I call or email your DJ to agree on music style, sets and connections.
-
3
Rider sent automatically
After confirmation, my technical rider goes to your DJ and the venue.
-
4
Together on the night
A short soundcheck on arrival, then we play at the agreed moments.
What your DJ needs to provide
Almost nothing. My digital percussion (Roland HandSonic and SPD-SX Pro) needs one free input on the DJ's mixer, by cable or through my wireless receiver. The djembe sounds acoustically and, in larger rooms, can be miked into the system. I bring my own in-ears, stands, cables and receivers.
- One free stereo or mono input on the mixer
- Power close to the DJ
- A space of about two by two metres next to the DJ, or none if I roam
All technical details are on the technical rider page.

Which DJs fit best
Any DJ who reads the crowd. It helps if the DJ plays some afro house, latin house or retro house, because that's where the djembe shines. Does your DJ mainly play hits and party classics? Then I go for the digital instruments, which fit any genre.
No DJ yet, or not sure about your choice? I'll suggest someone from the Friends of Sam.

Questions about a percussionist for your DJ
Question not listed? Send me a message.
How much does live percussion with our own DJ cost?
The price depends on the package, the date and the distance from Kortrijk. The first 100 km are included. Fill in the form and you'll get a personal proposal within 24 hours.
Does our DJ need to change their set?
No. The DJ plays as planned. We only agree on when I join in. I adapt to the DJ, not the other way round.
What if our DJ has no free input?
That's rare. If it happens, we find a solution together, such as a small extra mixer. I check this with the DJ in advance so there are no surprises on the night.
Can you play with a DJ you don't know?
Yes, that's the case for most of my bookings. A short chat beforehand and a soundcheck on site are enough.
Can we pass on song requests?
Yes, to your DJ, as usual. Let me know which tracks matter most too, and I'll make sure I play on those.
