An act that gets colleagues dancing together
At a company party, people who see each other every day rarely dance together. Live percussion breaks the ice.
I'm Sam Anderson, a live percussionist based near Kortrijk, Belgium. I play djembe and digital percussion alongside the DJ at corporate events all over Belgium. Since 2022 I have played at 21 corporate events, including Skyhall Brussels Airport for the Vlerick Awards, Casino Knokke, Van der Valk Liège and Kasteel Blauwhuis in Izegem.
What a live act does at a company event: it gives the party a clear starting point. Colleagues who stay seated after dinner get up when a blue LED djembe walks into the room. Management and new starters end up on the same dance floor. That's exactly what a staff party is for.
For event agencies, HR and marketing teams, the question is rarely whether it will be fun, but whether it's properly organised. So I work with clear agreements, a VAT invoice, a technical rider and direct coordination with the DJ, the technician and the venue.

A corporate event has a run sheet, a budget and often several suppliers. I fit in without adding work for you.
- Quote and invoice: a proposal online within 24 hours, signed digitally. VAT invoice in your company's name.
- Agreements: duration, sets, arrival and setup are fixed in the proposal.
- Rider: my technical rider goes automatically to the DJ, the technician and the venue.
- Technical coordination: I contact the DJ or production company myself about connections and sound.
- Equipment: I bring everything. The venue only provides power.

With your DJ or a DJ from my network
If the agency or venue already has a DJ, I play with them. The digital percussion runs through the DJ's mixer, so the sound stays coherent and within the venue's noise limits.
If there's no DJ yet, I'll suggest one from my network, the Friends of Sam: DJs experienced at corporate events, clubs and festivals, with whom I often play as a duo. You then have one point of contact for DJ and percussion. More on the combination at DJ with live percussion.

Does live percussion suit a staff party with all ages?
Yes. The DJ tailors the music to the crowd and I add to it. Younger colleagues dance to the beat, others watch and clap along. A glowing djembe appeals to every age, and anyone who wants to can play for a moment.
Do we receive a VAT invoice?
Yes, you receive a VAT invoice in the name of your company or agency. The proposal, agreements and billing details are recorded online and signed digitally.
How does technical coordination work?
After confirmation, my rider is sent automatically to the DJ, the technician and the venue. I contact them myself about the mixer connection and timing. The venue only needs to provide power.
How much space do you need?
For a fixed setup next to the DJ, about two by two metres is enough. When I roam with the djembe on a harness, I don't need a fixed spot. The Full Set needs more space; we discuss that in advance.
Can you play after speeches or an awards ceremony?
Yes, that's a great moment. After the formal part, live percussion clearly signals that the party has started. We fix the exact cue in the run sheet, agreed with the host or show caller.
Do you work with event agencies?
Yes, agencies and venues regularly book me for their clients. I follow their run sheet and coordinate with their technicians. More on for DJs and agencies.
What about the venue's noise limits?
Many venues use a sound limiter. Percussion peaks can trigger it, so I agree on it beforehand with the DJ and the venue. Digital percussion runs through the DJ's mixer and stays within the same sound budget.
Do you play in Brussels and Wallonia?
Yes, I play all over Belgium, including Zaventem, Brussels, Liège and Thimister-Clermont. I'm also available in northern France and the Netherlands. The first 100 km from Kortrijk are included.
