Live music for your wedding reception and party
From a relaxed groove with the first glass to a packed dance floor at midnight. Live percussion that grows with your evening.
Two moments, two moods
A drinks reception needs something different from an evening party. I play at both, but not in the same way.
At the reception, guests are catching up, sometimes for the first time in years. Music should be there without taking over the conversation. At the party it's the opposite: the energy has to rise. Live percussion works at both moments, as long as you treat them differently.
Many couples book me for one of the two. Those who want both usually choose Duo Percussion (90 minutes) or Triple Beats (120 minutes), leaving time for a short set at the reception and two or three sets at the party. All packages are on the wedding percussionist page.
The reception: a groove under the conversation
During drinks or a walking dinner, I play softly on the djembe or digital bongos. The DJ lays down a lounge or deep house base and I add light rhythms. Guests notice something is happening live, without having to shout to hear each other.
With the djembe on a harness, I can roam: along the tables, through the garden, onto the terrace. It loosens up the reception and gives your photographer great shots. Playing outdoors works as long as there's power for the DJ and the setup stays dry.
- Relaxed sets of 10 to 15 minutes
- Roaming or in one fixed spot
- Indoors or outdoors, through the DJ's sound system

The party: this is where it takes off
After dinner and the first dance, the DJ takes over. I come in when the dance floor fills up, usually after the first half hour. Then I play short, powerful sets over afro house, latin house, retro house or big party anthems. The blue LED djembe sits right in the middle of your guests.
Two or three sets per night work best. In between, the DJ plays alone, so the percussion stands out every time I come back. Anyone who wants to can join in for a moment. I work with your own DJ or with a DJ from my network: see DJ with live percussion.

Questions about the reception and party
Question not listed? Send me a message.
Isn't live percussion too loud for a drinks reception?
No, at the reception I deliberately play softly. Light strokes on the djembe or digital bongos at low volume through the DJ's system. Guests can chat as normal.
Can you play outside during the reception?
Yes, if there's power for the sound system and the spot is dry or covered. With the djembe on a harness I can roam among guests in a garden or on a terrace.
Which package covers both reception and party?
Duo Percussion (90 minutes) or Triple Beats (120 minutes). That leaves time for a short reception set and two or three party sets. With Solo (60 minutes) it's better to focus on one moment.
Do you stay for the whole evening?
I'm there for the length of your package, spread over the moments we agree in advance. If there's a long gap between reception and party, we add an extra hour.
Which music suits percussion at the party?
The djembe sounds best over afro house, latin house and retro house. The digital instruments fit any genre, including party hits and classics. The DJ and I agree on the style beforehand.

Reception, party or both?
Send me your schedule and I'll suggest how to spread the sets.
